Ali calls it horrible. I dont blame him, I think they deserve a little holiday
at least. Still they have got a few new bods in there. Except that theyr
mainly the usual suspects, Billings, Roy &Vince. Probably the other
Wood will get a game, a bit of a poor mans Stokes, I expect he and
the oz will not get on at all. Can the other Olly still bowl fast after
his injury and long layoff? So there is some interest in what happens
even if we lose 3-0.

There has been a few announcements from players who are 'retiring'
from some cricket variations to concentrate on other cricket
variations.
The IPL seems to be the competition losing the players this week.

The tour of Pak ends on Dec 21. The first Test against NZ is in
mid-Feb. That gives him a good six weeks to play BBL.

England's ODI tour of SA will restrict some English white-ball
regulars' participation in the BBL, though.

hemisphere all winter. lucky them.

after an atrocious start vs starc, vince and billings got them
back in the match before tailing off to an easy oz win. rather
sad end to roys otherwise impressive odi career. perhaps
he'll get another go in SA, maybe.

BBC headline said 'Australia clinch the series'. I'm not sure there
much clinching involved.It all seemed pretty straight forward.

Everytime I see Hazlewood's name I think of the water ski guy.

For no reason I can identify, I've never really warmed to Jason Roy. I
know he's done quite a lot of good stuff, but somehow I've always been
looking forward to welcoming his eventual successor.

And I think that time has now come. He's failed too often in recent
times to be a banker in a campaign to retain the WC (which I suspect
we will fail at anyway). When you've got Hales, Bairstow and Salt (at
least), there's little point in Roy any more.

That said, it's never fun to see players sliding off.

Another worrying sign is that SS with his 'altered technique' seems to
be back in form, 174runs for once out vs england which is rather
ominous for next years ashes.

and Buttler's sledging in the 1st odi was branded 'amusingly average'
in the oz media. I have to agree. i dont think england have any good

There's been a concerted campaign by the NSW mefia to portray ML as a
cricket tragic/nutbag. Strangely, these same qualities in Smith were
absolute positives when he was being pushed into a job which he was

Moaning-Harold caught my eye, "Labuschagne surprised Hazlewood got
captaincy call". Aha! I thought. *Finally*, a voice of dissent. Couldn't

"Marnus Labuschagne admits he was surprised to see Steve Smith snubbed as
Australia�s fill-in ODI captain in favour of Josh Hazlewood.

Pat Cummins sat out Saturday's win against England after just one game as

format. But instead of Smith stepping back into the role, Hazlewood was

That Test against England marked Smith�s first game as captain since the

Confusion around the captaincy aside, Smith is hitting peak form ahead of
the Test summer. After hitting an unbeaten 80 last Thursday, Smith backed
it up with 94 two days later. Labuschagne (58) and Smith combined for a

against the West Indies and a three-match series with South Africa.

Smith declared on Friday his knock in Adelaide was the best he has felt

��For him, it was a feel thing and he felt like his grip was right,��

refusing to be interviewed by him after he called them cowards. I doubt
whether the channel would put them together, i mean i dont think

If they do lift the ban, it will probably mean they intend to make
him captain or VC for the next WC in india, which surely sends
all the wrong signals about the game. Seeing how rubbish
windies were in the WC, i expect he'll fill his pockets with runs.

Not necessarily. The reason it's under discussion is because Warner
has filed a legal complaint that it's unjust. If CA lift the ban as a
result of a court order, it doesn't oblige them ever to offer him a
leadership position.

Sigh. It looks like my lifes' work here has been for nothing. Mikey,

cricket in Oz? And they most emphatically don't make selections. CNSW are
responsible for both of these. I've seen the org chart.

Meanwhile... back on decks... In the latest Shield game at the SCG (NSW v
WA), The Sandpit once again showed itself to be the worst square in the
country. Easily. 1st WA 233 & 127 d NSW 93 $ 134. NSW are on the bottom
of the Shield table, without a win in their 5 games. With their Big Six
all on the wrong side of 30 and even allowing for the control they have
of selection, I just can't see any of their current shower going anywhere
remotely near a BG. A Golden Age of merit based selections may be
approaching.

that was surely a very green wkt for perth. apart from the oz
batting, i noted 1 of the comms say Roach hadnt taken a wkt
in oz for 13 yrs! Kemar has quite a good record 252 wkts at 26,
but while hes excellent in the carib, away his figures are 72 at
nearly 39. In oz hes got 7 at 86, bit of a surprise. So its not
just our quick bowlers who struggle in oz.

Also Lara kept on refering to marcus.
