Or he's posting under a different name now. Or dead. There was a notorious
troll called Steve Firth who suddenly vanished from usenet ~10 years ago
after insulting and abusing almost everyone. Given he was hardly a spring
chicken I suspect he dropped out of the hen house and frankly good riddance.

The don't have to be dead. Just being in a care home is going to

Yes, though people moving to a care home who were still active might post
something here to that effect. We've also known people going for an
operation who didn't make it.

Have rarely seen that sort of change of circumstances being announced.
And if it happens after some episode that required an emergency hospital
admission, it wouldn't have been predicted.

Yes, we have had those. I also have a very prolific journalist friend
who went into hospital quite cheerfully about five years ago for a
routine operation, and never woke up. Died about a fortnight later.

standards and so till last year still of working age if you go by state

I used to pass almost daily up for sale ,wether that was to move to Italy
where he had a property with an olive grove I don’t know. The property
however is listed on the housing sites as not having been sold since 1996
so the sale never took place but I see it is on the market again.

Fair enough. Perhaps he pissed off the wrong person and decided to give
usenet a miss. Probably wasn't a good idea being so unpleasent posting under

Sometimes we found out from other posters if the person concerned was
widely known and corresponded with others away from Usenet.

In the case of Tim… though, I could be completely wrong I somehow got the
impression he had difficulty building up social contacts. Possibly he was
on the autistic spectrum.
So is or had probably been happiest burying himself in his work and then
as a bit of a loner felt more at home in the company of strangers on his
expeditions to far off places.
