You could mean anywhere from a different room to a different planet, so
I suggest you just try it for yourself.

There's not really any way for me to try it. I could take my phone down to my car in the underground carpark, but then it wouldn't have any signal.

Sorry, I take that back. All I have to do is turn off WiFi on the phone, and that would be the same as if the phone is elsewhere.

Doesnt have to be by email, the mynetfone web site does that.

Not free, but you do need a free account but that is
easy, get a whirlpool account.

Install Google Messenger on your Android phone (may not work on Crapple)
and Messenger for Web from Google in your computer. Sends an SMS from
your computer through your 'phone. If 'phone is off, won't work.

Both free from Google.

Google Messenger (which I also recommended) does need to have an active
connection to the phone from the computer, if using the web version.

I use MightyText. there's a free and paid version. no need to use email.
just type your message and press send and it goes from your phone. syncs
texts with your phone. you can read incoming messages on the PC too.
