They need a first innings lead of ~50 to be on par with England though.

Since they have to bat last, they probably need a total of at least 350
to be ahead in the game. Given the state of the pitch and outfield, it
will be a surprise if there isn't reverse swing to be had as the ball
gets older, so even if England's spinners do poorly Pakistan may still
find getting such a total difficult.

Engand lost 3 wkts to reverse sweeps, including i think Leach
first ball which was truly uncharacteristic, although they didnt
do any better in india playing in the 'traditional way' in those 3
tests they lost on turners. England obviously hoped to kerrigan
Ahmed and put his debut under pressure, but he won the day.

How many Pakistan get and any lead will be crucial, cos I expect
England will find it even more difficult to bat 2nd time around. I
dont think its gonna be a draw.

I would have preferred Foakes to play if hes fit, especially as
hes a good player of spin, but clearly they wanted wood
to play, probably cos our spinners arnt great on turning wkts.

However this must be the first time that jimmy bowled only
2 overs when he had just taken a wkt with the new ball. Plus
i think leach could have done with a few fielders in the deep.

The truly hilarious thing is that what England are doing now is what
they used to do in the Golden Age, when the team was mostly Gentlemen
who couldn't care less whether they were in the team next year and
played cricket because they enjoyed it. McCullum and Stokes have
convinced a fully professional team to play old-style amateur cricket.

And the Pakistan-supporting village idiot who claims to believe that
old-style cricket was far better hates it when he sees it being
played.

And I think we can predict that he will explain that the current
team's approach to cricket is not like the Golden Age because they use
different equipment on better pitches, neither of which has anything
whatsoever to do with it.
