Immobilisers have been law in this country for some time, so I'm not
sure the same would apply here. Not that such a device would bother a
professional, but no Hyundai vehicles make the "top ten" list of stolen
cars in this country.

I read about that on the ABC news this morning and the article said that
some of the cars didn't have immobilizers?
Immobilizers have been mandatory on Australian delivered cars since 2001
and many had them before that so I don't think the same issue applies here.

At one stage, GM were using a resistor in the key as "theft deterrent
system". It was piss weak, as you could only distinguish 16 resistance
levels in real-world conditions, versus a million rolling codes.
