If England bat again his scores for the series can't be strictly monotonically decreasing but they could still be monotonically decreasing.

This is what we call the Bairstow problem which will soon rear its
ugly head. You can't drop Brook when Bairstow's fit, so who has to go
and how do they shuffle the order about? Given that Bairstow opens in
white-ball cricket, it's not entirely implausible to have him open in
a Stokes team, and Crawley's unreliability isn't making a strong case
that Bairstow wouldn't be better.

Bairstow, Duckett, Pope, Root, Brook, Stokes, Foakes ++++

Although I wouldn't be surprised if they asked Brook to open the bat he'd probably excel at that as well...

I've seen it suggested that Pope could open, which would be asking a
lot.
