stokes seemed to say something to him before he departed as if
to reassure him, or not to worry, anyway it worked.

I think both Gooch and Boycott scored 3 consecutive 100s
but I couldnt generate a search for 3x100s in 3 consecutive
tests by england batters, although i remember Azza doing it
against england. I think I heard saltyman say the last
english to do that was Bopara. In fact he had 3 consecutive
0s followed by 3 consecutive 100s. And not much after that.

Yes - Gooch made 4 in 3 Tests v NZ and India in 1990, including his 333,
and including 3 in consecutive innings v India.

Boycott made 3 in consecutive innings at Adelaide in 1970/71 and v
Pakistan at Headingley and Lord's in 1971. The first two were not out.

I think that must have been the last in a single series overseas. The
last anywhere was Bairstow last summer, and the last overseas was Root
in SL (2) and India in 2020/21. Root also did it against India in 2021,
so twice within 8 months.
