While driving back from the medical centre today, I saw local "parking
attendants" (two of 'em) wielding digital cameras and photographing the
"No Waiting" sign and two cars which had been left half on the *footway*
nearby.

I suspect that the effort to photograph the sign means that the
ticket(s) will be issued for parking on the (single) yellow line, rather
than for parking on the *footway*.

Of course, you are only fed up with it (parking on the *footway*)
because it hampers you and other fairy-cyclists when you illegally use
the *footway* as a fairy-cycling route.

If an idiot driver kills them it's their fault they were hit.

Yes completely, I politely mentioned the difficulty it causes me as a disabled person to a lady who continually parks on the pathway near my flat..and got just loads of abuse from her.

I’m with you. The other day I watched an Amazon van pull onto the pavement outside a house and the driver walk the 5 yards or so to the door. This in a street with no parked cars and plenty of room for cars to pass. I just thought why.

We need the law to state that ANYTHING blocking a pavement can be walked over as if it were pavement with no legal recourse against the pedestrian.
You *probably* can't drive a wheelchair over a car, but good luck to those who try - and it'll revive sales of hobnail boots ..

Our Walking and Cycling Index (formerly Bike Life) is the UK's biggest ever study of walking, wheeling and cycling. It highlights the issue of pavement parking in urban areas across the UK and Ireland, and has found that banning pavement parking would help 70% of all residents to walk or wheel more.

Our survey gathered the opinions of over 13 million people. Pictured is Gordon, Bristol Walking Alliance and Co-Chair Bristol Disability Equality Forum.

Our Walking and Cycling Index, formerly known as Bike Life has highlighted several barriers which people face when walking, wheeling and cycling in their local areas.

One is the obstruction caused by pavement parking.

We surveyed more than 24,000 people from 18 cities and areas across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Each report looks at infrastructure, travel behaviour, the impact of cycling, and new initiatives.

In our report, we found that banning pavement parking would help 70% of all residents to walk or wheel more.

And 72% of residents think wider pavements would encourage them to do so.

Pavement parking is currently prohibited in London.

The UK government is now considering extending this across England.

The Scottish government is set to introduce a ban on pavement parking in 2023.

It can, and should, be banned. My business doesn't have parking, so we pay and park in public car parks - or cycle.

What has "pavement" (footway) parking got to do with fairy-cyclists,
unless they intend to fairy-cycle along the affected footway and put
pedestrians in danger?

That and phone driving, and speeding, and tailgating, and idling, and car alarms ruining my relaxation, and cars in intersections bc they ran a red and got stuck, and giant carparks ruining landscapes, and cars parked in bus lanes.
