I have. The landlord lived downstairs and I think it was the only telly
in the house, as the landlord's kids used to come upstairs to watch it
sometimes.

Geothermal comes from a mix of 'sources'. One is radioactivity. But another
is 'tidal'. Another is 'changes of state' as materials have altered under
pressure. Early bombardment also added a lot of heat. As - so current
theory says - did the way our Moon arrived. Tidal forces add more. They
affect the land as well as the seas

> I'm not sure of the exact mechanism to spin up the solar system for

As the initial 'cloud' of matter began to condense the overall complex
pattern of movements would resolve into a spin about - on average - a
common axis, but with some of the orginal 'random movement' energy turned
into higher velocities/heat. As the compression continued, some energy was
lost, but the total rotatational momentum 'condensed'.

We now know by observations that solar systems are common. But come in a
bewildering array of types.

Sounds like one cannot put a source on the energy any more recent than
the big bang in that case. The basic energy is gravitational potential
energy.

not quite so popular on the 2nd hand market

not useful as a stand alone item to take with you to keep

Given that energy and mass are two faces of the same coin it is unavoidably
as a conclusion that all energy comes from the start... until such time as
we come up with a better understanding, perhaps.

The processes and state we have at present simply show us the
'distribution' of the present energy/mass and its interactions.

However when driving your car towards a brick wall, more 'local' concerns
may be in you mind as being relevant. 8-] So the 'minor details' can
matter.

I appreciate that, but the sub-thread was on assigning an actor
responsible for putting the energy in a form useful to humans on a
shorter time scale than the age of the earth.
