Evening all,

I'm a little out of the loop, but has anything come of the two (maybe
more?) companies which were trialling converted EMUs for use on parcels
and light goods trains?

Are there any regular services yet?

A quick Google search only gives the press releases from the last couple
of years.

Cheers,

As far as I know all the ones for parachuting-in parcel traffic to
Euston were publicity stunts. Meanwhile there are 15 of these still in
service, allegedly:

A number of units are being converted, but I'm not aware of any regular
services yet.

No other than 1 stripped for spares the rest of the fleet are in Daily
(Monday to Friday) use. There are 5 daily departures and 5 daily
arrivals scheduled at Willesden PRDC, 3 to Shieldmuir, 1 to Warrington
and 1 to Low Fell (via ECML). The WCML trains are usually 12 coach (3
sets). Looking at Real Time Trains 4 out of the 5 ran today.
Warrington was canceled which is normal, the 2 Shieldmuir trains drop
off traffic at Warrington if required by Royal Mail. I think I read
recently that 10 or so units are required for a normal day with
another on maintenance at Crewe Electric so there are a couple spare
each day.
As I write this the 2245 from Willesden to Low Fell has just passed
Alexandra Palace 2 mins down. Arrival at Low Fell is scheduled for
02.58 tomorrow.

Just watched it through Peterborough on the Webcam, it's picked up a
bit, now 14 early. Single unit today.

Because it's Wikipedia, and we've had our fingers singed (if not burnt)
as recently as a few days ago, not taking it with a big enough pinch of
salt. (The topic then was scrapped Mk4 carriages, where their numbers
were out by more than an order of magnitude).
