All the way through Midsummer murders, when the ad brake occurred the audio
level remained ducked during the commercials if AD was switched on. Perhaps
somebody at ITV should not break for ads during the ducking for an AD
segment by actually listing to the output? Ahem.

If you tune away and back it gets back to normal of course. I guess they
need to have some way to detect the AD track being used and do the
commercials in the gaps.
