Interesting that the voice algorithm has been programmed to recognise
initials such as GB (and maybe KB, MB and TB) and decode them to "gigabyte"
(and "kilobyte", "megabyte" and "terabyte"), rather than spelling them out.
Question: should a TV decode "GB" to "Great Britain" or "gigabyte" when it
is localised for the UK?

Its worse than that.
Most synthetic voices come from the states and don't like the UK at all,
for example most of the Microsoft, google and others encode hard for
American regions, therefor, KT9 5NY becomes KT 9 5 New York.

Its been going on for many years with english voices. The Samsung one is an
Android voice called Pico, you can interface it to many screenreaders, but
even the English accent voices do the incorrect abbreviation translation,
Then again, some seem to assume all capital letters wich equate to roman
Numerals, are Roman Numerals.
VI people as a shorthand for visually impaired people is often heard as
roman 6 people instead.
