That is how it appears of the Mddx website. It could be a lack of suitable

Theres probably very little cricket in August becos the ECB wants us all to focus on

Correct. England's only match in August is the 1st T20 v NZ on the 30th

You'd have to be pretty old. Apart from 1970, when England played the
Rest of the World, and WWII, the last time there was no Test in August
was 1932, when they played a single Test against India in late June.

That certainly seems to have been the case in the last one or two
Aprils. But I those springs were unusually dry, so it might be different
this year when - after a dry winter - the last few weeks have been very
wet.

yes instead of floods of runs, it could well be just floods. cricket is
not well placed to cope with climate change.

Of course, it depends what Robert meant by "uncongenial". Even if it's
dry, that doesn't make it pleasant, for players or spectators, if it's
also cold.

I think April is usually quite a bit colder than September. Towards the end of September, the light at the end of the day might start to become more of an issue.

Well, maybe, but the fixtures reach to 29 Sept . Lords becomes freezing if it gets half a chance.,.,.. RH
