England batting in the 3rd innings, effectively 35/2.

Start of Day 4.

It's very evenly poised. I can't work out which team I'd rather be.
Probably England by the smallest of smidgens.

My theory has always been the team batting second needs an 80 run lead to be even, as getting runs in the 4th innings is so difficult.
The problem is Bazball has changed things. I have no idea what's a hard target these days.

It will be a 5th Day pitch though, unless England collapse.

Stokes ignored the psychology of the situation when he declared. Oz would have been under far more pressure batting out the England first innings than a chancy declaration. RH

The light in which Oz took two wickets could easily have been judged too poor to play see-

Well it's 63/2 after about 15 mins of play, the mentallists. Although as has been pointed out on Twatter, there is method to Root's seemingly unhinged madness:

"In NZ, Root took this ramping approach when it was nipping about as well and explained that when the ball's moving around & the risk of getting out is nicking off, the ramp forces a slip to drop back to third man. So your risk is the ramp, but your reward is one fewer catcher."

if oz get the last 5 wkts quickly , they could be chasing down a target of under 200 today.
so long as they dont take the same risks as england do, they should get them.
