I have seen that and just saw Alistair Cook & Co blaming Cummins for not withdrawing the appeal . I guess this cements the archetype of the "whinging pom" .
And as for the spirit of the game, the Kiwi Stokes comments about "spirit of the game" are not in the "spirit of the game". Bowling bouncers at bowlers who cant bat
is definitely not in the spirit of the game. GETTING WICKETS MADE TO FAVOR YOUR BATTING STYLE IS DEFINITELY NOT IN THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME .

I think that's going a bit far but I'd definitely agree that whether something is smart play or against the spirit of cricket is often down to whether your team did it or the opposition did it
and a lot of things that people see as against the spirit of cricket, such when McCallum ran out players who'd completed the run and were going to congratulate their partners on a milestone, the victim's actions were truly dopey

Spirit of the game is something they like to sprout but its total bullshit

I am a great believer if its in the laws then allow it ie, underarm bowling

Fix the laws , make it a ball is dead when the umpire signals it dead and until then stay in your crease.
Fix it for Mankad as well, make if a batsmen at the bowling end then no run will be given ie. no advantage

BUT I think MCC and others like the controversy as it gets people talking about cricket
