The Australian prime minister gave Rishi Sunak a photograph of Jonny Bairstow’s controversial Ashes stumping in the margins of the Nato summit..

The two men had “good cricket banter” at a “brush by” meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania, where they joked about their countries’ sporting rivalry.

Anthony Albanese gave Mr Sunak a photograph of the moment Bairstow was stumped after walking out of his crease during the second Ashes test at Lord’s, believing the over had ended.

The incident sparked abuse of the Australian team from members of the Marylebone Cricket Club – leading to three suspensions from the “home of cricket”.

Mr Sunak reciprocated with a photograph of Mark Wood and Chris Woakes embracing after winning the third Ashes Test at Headingley on Sunday.

Ok. It seems you're saying he attempted a stumping. ie a deliberate action of taking the bails off after catching the ball.

i think this was in 2011, and Prior did later stump MJ off Pieterson, cos KP mentioned it
when he was commentating during the lords test. They said that was the match anderson
got whacked for about 90.

but here the ball hit the wicket without dislodging the bail and prior knocked it off.
didnt look to me as if he was claiming a stumping.

So... the next step is asking yourself "did it look like Prior was appealing for the bowled (or worse, saying it was out bowled)?".

If the answer is Yes... then it's cheating.

I've seen clearer cases than this one, mind you.
