A cursory glance shows no sheddi currently using G2 (canaldrifter was a
few months ago, but hymermut isn't now)

I suggest if anysheddi *is* using google groups you should find a better
news server or you might be drowned out, and that everyone else
considers killfiling anything where "message-id contains
@googlegroups.com" possibly with a whitelist of sheddi chums

Don't killfile on "from contains @gmail.com" as that will kill stuff you
probably want.

I do use NIN, but not for the shed, because $REASONS.

Not had any get here from ES unless it's hitting my existing
filters which don't include a blanket GG ban.

Bummer.
I haven't seen thousands per day, but the woodworking group
is well over 100 per day. Those posts all have great long nonsense
subject lines with mostly question marks ; diferent poster names ;
- unlike the posts here, so far.
They do share the google groups origin.

The E-S Admin, Ray Banana, is putting a great deal of effort into
polishing his Googlespam filters* so as not to have too many false
positives blocked. Given the huge volume of Googlespam there will
surely be some collateral damage. There have been calls for GG to
suffer the Usenet Death Penalty of de-peering. IMO Google very
much deserves UDP.

To those presently posting to Usenet via the Google Groups to Usenet
Gateway: don't be surprised if your posts get lost. Your best course
of action is to get a real News service and a real Newsreader.

At a local level: I've binned everything posted with User-Agent G21/0.
If I miss any worthwhile posters from my whitelist, I hope to pick them
up from followups to their posts.

* It's a collaborative effort between several news services using NoCeM.

I'd not seen any but just out of interest I had a look at the shed on GG,
and sure enuff, there's a shedload of stuff from Lashawna Satchel, and
possibly others but I couldn't be bovvered looking further. Looks to be
mainly adverts for zbarlous junk. Not sure who on GG the spammers are
trying to target, and quite possibly the spammers don't either.

Most of them seem to be originating in Thailand, using the unicode
version of their local alphabet, which explains the question marks you
see if your reader can't decode it.
