Top poster Tony here - in a quest to give something back to the group.

The Digital Voice thread alerted me to the fact that there were DECT
multiple phone systems that can also pick up calls from a cellphone.

Some people buy them when they live somewhere their cellphone has poor
reception in part of their home. Put the DECT reasonably near the
healthy cellphone and you can pick up the calls in any room there is a
DECT remote phone.

I bought ours as my wife is not keen on carrying her cellphone from room
to room and when she goes back to her desk she sees she has missed a
call. The DECT and her desk are in different rooms and the connection by
bluetooth seems pretty resiliant.

Now, if her cellphone rings when she is in the kitchen she can pick up
the call. I believe it will also tell her when she gets a text - but
have yet to experiment with that facility.

I got our kit from Amazon and there are reports on there that the sound
quality is poor. I have only had it for one morning but so far we cannot
fault it.

Another plus is that it will copy phone numbers from a cellphone by
bluetooth. I have about 2,000 on my PC Outlook and I sync them to my
phone. I am not going to leave my phone connected to the DECT system as
I prefer to have my phone in my pocket and I also have a Samsung Smart
Watch - but I paired it temporarily this morning and it copied all the
numbers to the DECT. OK it probably took half an hour - but it was time
well used.

I am sure I will find problems but if anyone sees the need I recommend
they look into what this kit does.

PS For the doubters - I do not own the firm who imports them - not
Amazon (sadly)

Curious. Enter KX-TGH264EB into Google and it comes up with links to
Panasonic, but when you follow one of those links their web site doesn't
know what you are talking about! Hmmm.......

I'm also of the opinion that they are not making that particular model
now - but there seem to be some on eBay as well.
