Where I live too many GPs all competing for business, if one bulk

Previous to tele-consultations I used to nip into a bulk billing
practice for my ongoing scripts and a blood pressure check while going
to my regular GP for anything that wasn't just scripts. Tele - whatever,
I talk to my GP and the scripts end up at my pharmacy, no cost.

A woman of my acquaintance had to hobble about for 3 years awaiting
the OK for a hip replacement in the public system.

Even if fully privately insured to the Gold standard one will wait for
a long time for a competent surgeon of your choice if there's a queue.
And there usually is.
