Took bad on Saturday. Ambulance job. In hospital all day., back home now.
Non-valvular atrial fibrillation.
More medication to add to what I already take every day.
Things are starting to ease now. Fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear that Bill. I hope it clears away quickly. A little bit
of Googling seems to indicate it's one of these areas that doctors don't
understand too well. It appears that it can be brought on by several
different things like - high blood pressure, thyroid problems or some
other conditions. Take it easy and relax if you can. I guess we're all
thinking of you.

AF is one of the leading causes of strokes. The blood collects in an
eddy that the AF creates in the heart and if that forms a clot, it will
get pumped round the body, and if it gets to the brain it can cause a
stroke.

I got put on an anticoagulant to prevent such clots forming plus a drug
to give me a slower but stronger heartbeat. I have gone nearly 4 years
without a recurrence, so it has been worth the extra medication.

I hope you are equally fortunate.

Jim
