Came in a few minutes ago to watch Countdown, only to find a stationary
picture from the previous programme (Steph's Packed Lunch?) and no
sound. Nothing on 4 or 104, but oddly Ch4+1 is ok. There now a
"Programmes continue shortly" displaying on 4 and 104. Anyone know
what's going on?

Sod's Law! It came back on as soon as I clicked on "send"!

An hour later there was the identical fault on C4+1 (which is where I
watch Countdown), suggesting that the whole C4 operation is totally
automated, with no human intervention to prevent any C4 fault from
appearing on C4+1 an hour later. I wondered if it was just affecting
their Sky transmission, which was what I was watching, but I discovered
on switching to Freeview that it was just the same.

Having lost about 15 minutes to the stationary picture, they
subsequently seemed to be making up time by dropping the ads from the ad
breaks (though retaining the programme trailers).

Perhaps their flashy new distribution system they claim to be building from
scratch has fallen over.
