ISTR that last summer both England and Australia often fell well short
of 90 overs in a day, but somehow I don't recall there was ever any
punishment, or at least not one draconian enough to discourage them from
future offences.

The big difference is that England women have spinners at least the
equal of India's. If Sophie Ecclestone isn't threatening, then it sounds
like the pitch is a road.

Clearly it must have been a highly entertaining day's play. And England
bowled 94 overs, in spite of their bowlers going round the park! If only
men's Test teams could take a leaf out of their book.

No help for bowlers on that pitch.

England women will score tons of runs too at least in the first innings
unless pitch breaks and takes turn and spin which is highly unlikely at
least until the 4th day.

I think Australia was penalised with a loss of points in the test championship

Obviously NOBODY expected the pitch to assist spin "that early".

Not even the commentators, coaches and fans.

But to some extent, England batters should blame themselves for NOT
applying themselves properly on a "slightly tricky wicket", from the
fact Indian batters scored 186/6 in I2 on that SAME PITCH.

Yes, they lost 10 points and England lost 19 (out of the 28 points each that they would otherwise have taken from the series).

I think England lost 25% of their match fee too for over rates in the last test.

she took 5-167 off 41 overs, whereas offy Deepti Sharma had a great game with a
67 and 9-39. afterwards cap knight said england needed to be better against spin.
whod hav thought that in india! Bet stokes will be saying the same thing in about
a months time.

Oz sheilas did better than england in india but still got well
beaten, again off spin taking the wickets for india. I think
england men will miss having a proven off spinner. they just
have root, who did fairly well last time its true, and a chap
whos played just 6 FC games.

Meanwhile oz men survive a difficult day in melbourne but
Pakistan failed to take advantage of the conditions. They
look a very weak side ATM, the battings unreliable and
the bowling and fielding lacklustre. Havnt seen the hilites
from Centurion yet, but seems theres a lot of rain about
in the southern hemisphere this summer.

thats 1 heck of a collapse 6 wkts in 9 overs. wish we had some
fast bowlers who wernt injured. why wasnt shami playing - injured
again?

melbourne test looks finely balanced but i think oz have nearly
enough runs with their superior bowling attack. cant see pak
getting near to 300 on this pitch. marsh looks a giant ATM.
