My mother-in-law used to have BT Sport provided with her PlusNet
broadband. This discontinued at the end of October this year.

Just to add to the fun her Youview/Freeview box has failed recently.

She would like to continue viewing the BT Sport extras but we're a bit
confused now about what we need to do.

The PlusNet web site says that one can still subscribe to the "BT
Sport App", what does this mean exactly?

Obviously we need to get a new PVR so she can continue to use
FreeView, a Humax similar to the dead one should be OK and will be
familiar to her. However we're not clear how the "BT Sport App"
interacts with this.

Any/all help and advice would be very welcome.

similar for my neighbour, in the end he purchased a chromecast/googleTV dongle,
I think the BT sports was at 2K, even though his TV and the dongle are 4K
devices, I did notice over the weekend that he was still using it for the rugby.

Subscription tv are going to have to get their heads together, the honeymoon
period is over now, I feel some shrinkage and rationalisation going on. YOu
see the desperate measures on ITV Hub and Briton and others where to watch
new stuff straight away you need to subscribe but people just wait instead.
It seems that in other countries they are more willing to pay, but then they
have a longer history of cable networks.

The BT Sport App is for tablets and smartphones only.

The Manhattan is possibly cheaper, probably better and should operate
much the same as the Humax.

One could install the bluestacks emulator on Windows 10 and run the app
from within there?

Alternatively download and install win 11 as that apparently has native
support for Android Apps?

There is a BT Sport App for Roku. I have a similar deal with EE as your
M-I-L has with Plusnet. I use a Roku. I do, though, have to pay an extra
fiver a month to watch on a "Big Screen". I think "Big Screen" means
anything larger than a 'phone or tablet computer.
