A police officer from Bedfordshire Police has been charged with careless driving after a collision with a cyclist in Luton, Bedfordshire.

Police constable Iain Moore, 36, faces a trial today (Tuesday, September 14), accused of driving without due care and attention.

PC Moore, of Flamville Road, Bedford will appear in Luton Magistrates Court accused of driving without due care and attention.

The charge follows an investigation from the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) which oversees complaints made against police forces.

On October 13 2019, he was responding to a call from a member of the public requiring urgent medical attention.

He was driving a police vehicle which was then involved in a collision with a cyclist in Montrose Avenue, Luton. The man suffered serious injuries.

The IOPC investigation was completed in March 2020 and a file of evidence referred to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). The CPS then made the decision to charge PC Moore.
