In New England and the Canadian Maritimes, tapping is what you do to
get maple sap. The thing you stick into the hole(s) in the tree -- at
least before pipes through the sugarbush were introduced -- were
spiles.

Sadly, our part of Nova Soctia tends to sodden, foggy gradual warming
in the sping rather than toasty days and frosty nights but other parts
of the province get the weather and busy sugaring operations.

'The Tap & Spile' is a not uncommon name for a pub over here.
Both taps and spiles can be found in any real ale pub cellar, they're
used in the management of ale casks and barrels.

It was a (mostly Northern) pub chain, and sold nice beer. Sadly missed now.

I could only find these ones with that name still:

I did. Back now. First trial camp in the new (to me) Hymer. All systems
go, except I need to change the water pump (too weak) and fix a slight
link on a sink trap.

Found a couple of switches that I don't know what they do, but pretty
lickle red light come on to tell you something could be happening.

That's one good thing about having the same caravan since 2018, there
aren't too many unexpected bits & pieces to deal with - but we still
manage to leave 'important' things at home when we do our first trip of
the year (delayed this year since the van needs a repair, and I can't
get it done until mid May).
