I know couples who have ASD affected children.
Both parents are also affected, in varying degrees.
Should a reliable test emerge, couples could be advised of the likelihood.
But this would be a real can of worms ethically.

And how many parents would be seriously put off by the idea having kids who will grow up to be very much like them ?

One benefit would be fewer adults like Sylvia or Rod.
