I went there to be fined (IIRC) a tenner for not wearing a helmet, back
in my MAG days, and went back to pay the fine with a cheque attached to
a stuffed donkey.

I worked there for a short time too, as it happens, while the Stephen
St. offices were being refurbished. Around 89-91 (I did two contract
stints with them, can't remember whish one(.

As I recall, all that remained of the Holborn building was the street
frontage, everything from the facade back had been completely
demolished and replaced with a brand new building. I guess that's
probably not unusual now, but I was quite surprised at the time.

Now *that* is something I did not know. Too bad that the rest of the
building isn't there, but good thíng they saved the facade, at least.

I worked there as well for a few years. Skype were at Stephen street,
then we re-located to Holborn. Several millions were spent in
skype-ifying the glass building at the back.

The subject line could have been meant "for Dodger...to identify for me,
given his knowledge of London". Having never visited Dodger at his place
of work (when he was still a worker), I had no idea of the connection.
However, I know what the building is so I offered an answer. I have made
worse mistakes in my life so I think I will be able to live with the
knowledge that I misinterpreted something on usenet!

I immediately made the connection with SD.

That's bizarre, because we got moved to Stephen St, whilst 142 was

The whole of the square remained intact, externally.

The Brook St side was extensively remodelled in side, and that's where
the Pru went back to. The departments who moved to Euston Sq,
Princeton House, and Paddington all stayed in their new locations.

PPM, my subsidiary, signed a deal to return at a rent of £140/sq ft,
and then the PAC Life fund leased the rest at rents between £10 and
£30, as the office space market had collapsed in the meantime.

We then moved out again in '99, down to Governor's House near Cannon
St., then across the road to Angel Lane just before I retired.

M&G built/bought a new office building on Fenchurch Avenue just in
time for CoVid/WFH.

I may be misremembering exact timelines, like maybe we were there
temporarily just before the refurb while people were being moved
aroundm then I visited again afterwards.

Too long ago, and at a time where I was typically doing two or three
contracts a year, so almost constantly changing my place of work, so
short stints don't always get correctly identified.
