I don't think "living with covid" meant giving up all efforts to combat
it, it meant that we couldn't prevent transmission by retreating to our
caves like common trolls.

Imagine if we'd dealt with HIV like we did covid and shut everything
down until we had a working vaccine.

It seems you haven't understood the plan.

It's simple enough. We ignore covid. If caught vaccination will save most people. If not we bury the dead.

Or imagine how many dead we would have if we had simply decided to treat HIV like winter flu and just accepted the deaths it caused.

regularly - If it was transmitted through the air you breathe could well
have been very different.
