with vastly greater numbers than were used in the clinical trials.

Depends on what you mean by protected. Against being killed
by the virus, yes, substantially better off than the unvaccinated,
maybe about 4 times, but not with no risk at all, particularly
with those with a fucked immune system or with severe
underlying medical conditions or the very elderly etc.

Much less likely to get severe disease too.

But still with a very real risk of getting infected and infecting others.
Only really about half the risk of those who are unvaccinated.

From serious illness or death you are mostly protected it. None of the
vaccines stop 100% stop you catching and spreading it. Hence we
shouldn't open till everybody has had a chance of vaccination

Yep, Singapore with over 80% fully vaccinated now is getting
as bad a result as Sydney now.

And New Zealand with nowhere even remotely like
that is doing vastly better than Victoria and NSW.

The vaccination is being vastly overrated but
does help a lot with severe disease and death.
