Until charging is available at every destination where you might spend more than a few minutes, it would greatly facilitate the transition to EVs if motorists could plug in and cycle the last leg of the trip.

Some last legs are so short walking is faster than taking the bike out of the frunk, reinstalling the wheel and seat and then after returning to the ev, removing the wheel and seat.

Much like child seats the bike rack can be quasi permanent with hidden or discrete quick release attachment points to sell the EV to non cyclists.

Quite frankly I personally would have no issue with the bike rack crudely welded onto the back of the vehicle but that's just me.
