A driver in Northern Ireland has been fined and given points on their licence after being caught driving with icy windows.

The driver in the Lisburn area was driving on Tuesday night, January 16, with a limited amount of visibility through their front windscreen due to condensation as a result of the cold weather.

The PSNI's Road Policing and Safety team have shared the story to remind drivers to make sure windows are cleared of any condensation, ice, or snow before setting off on your journey.

After being stopped by police, the driver was fined £65 and three points were added to their licence.

In a social media post on Tuesday evening, Police Road Policing and Safety said: "Please make sure your windows are cleared of any condensation, ice, snow or anything else that impairs your ability to view the road ahead BEFORE you start your journey.

"This is the view of one driver stopped in the Lisburn area in the last 30 minutes and now having taken the time to allow the windows to clear is on their way home with an extra 3 points on their licence and a £65 fine."
