People playing loud music and revving cars on Bridlington seafront near a care home, hotel and flats could be fined, East Riding Council has warned.

New signs have also gone up in Bridlington's North Marine Drive to warn offenders that the council can take action against antisocial behaviour under its Public Space Protection Order (PSPO). Council Public Protection Portfolio Holder Cllr Leo Hammond said anyone who has already been warned about the ban would be fined if they are caught again.

It comes after the PSPO in the area was extended in 2023 after a number of young adults gathered together playing loud music and revving cars in the early hours. The area is close to an elderly persons' residential home, a hotel and two blocks of flats and antisocial behaviour there has been reported to Humberside Police for three years.

The council has written to some of those found gathering in North Marine Drive warning that they had breached the ban on antisocial behaviour there. Some contacted the authority to say they were not aware of it and asked for more information, according to the council.

More than 20 letters have been sent out since the PSPO was introduced but so far no one has been fined. Seven yellow signs with warnings against the offending behaviour had now been placed in North Marine Drive with locals helping to design them.

Maybe the police are too busy interviewing homeless people?

You forgot to mention how they are involved.

I think homeless people have far greater worries than loud music coming out of car windows at car meets at KMart.
