A SCOTS driver was slapped with a fine and points on their licence after popping in to get their nails done.

The silver Volkswagen vehicle was left parked on Dalry Road in Edinburgh on Thursday as the motorist attended an appointment.

But the owner returned to find they'd been hit with the hefty penalty over their parking.

An image shared by road cops shows the motor had been abandoned on the zig-zag lines at a pedestrian crossing as the individual popped in for their nail treatment.

And the appointment turned out to be far more expensive than they anticipated as cops hit them with a £100 fine and three points on their licence..

Road Policing Scotland posted a photo on X as they slammed the driver's careless parking.

The post said: "Edinburgh Road Policing traced the driver of this vehicle today who had parked within a pedestrian crossing, thereafter issued with 3 penalty points and £100 fine.

"Very expensive nail appointment."

Edinburgh is set to become the first city to enforce a ban on pavement parking.

New rules aimed at making the streets safer for all road users were announced earlier this month.

Drivers who park on pavements, dropped kerbs and double park will be issued with a £100 fine from Monday, January 29.

We previously told how an Edinburgh driver was left stuck on a set of steps after taking a wrong turn by Edinburgh Castle.

It's understood the driver tried to turn down the pedestrian steps from Castlehill to Grassmarket by mistake.
