Not many places to mount hidden devices on bikes…

Using the Met. as an example, you will get some vehicles where there
is clearly concealment of equipment (internal and external) and
usually no/minimal uniforms worn but others (often seen on traffic
work) still sans Battenburg markings where blue lights etc. are merely
moved to less prominent locations (e.g. in front and rear windows
instead of on a roof bar) and occupants in normal uniforms including
occasionally hi-vis. The latter are often seen on the West Cross route
in London pulling up the boy racers who seem to infest the road just
after the morning rush hour.

Mostly now "hidden" by way of reduction in size like e.g. LED blue
lights compared with older incandescent ones.

They're still going to be very obvious to anyone in the know.

If you are standing beside it but rather less likely if it is
following you down the road. They won't be showing blue until they are
switched on.

Thames Valley did it along the M4 in the mid 1980s. We did a story on it
and they got a CID plains clothes Cortina as the target vehicle and they
were going to try and do 100mph, sadly the fastest we clocked them at
was a shade under 85!

It was basically a scare story as at that time the TVP helo was based
just south of the M4 near Reading and could often be seen flying along
it for other reasons.
