Watching the news they keep saying we knew there has been a war in Eastern
Ukraine since 2014.I didn't, I don't remember seeing that on the news. I
know that Russia annexed Crimea, I think in 2014, and I imagine that the
failure of the rest of the world to do anything about that has led to
today's invasion of Ukraine, I hope nobody is kidding themselves that's
where Russia will stop.

Did I miss something? Has there been constant reporting of a war in
eastern Ukraine for the last 8 years?

The east of Ukraine had a couple of enclaves that considered themselves
Russian and Russia armed and supported them against the Ukraine attempts
to control them. It hit the headlines when Russia provided a missile
launcher which shot down a civilian passenger aircraft in 2014:

After that there was a low key war of attrition with Ukraine forces in
trenches around the rebels to prevent the rebels extending their reach
further into Ukraine, with occasional skirmishes causing casualties on
both sides.

There has been a lot of other stuff going on over the last couple of years.
And I do wish Mr Putin would read history. He would know life for people who
behave like him seldom eends well.

It was reported in many sources as has been the on-going rebel states
actions.

Reuters have covered it and so have inewspaper that I know of for sure.
I'm pretty sure that I've also read about it on Al Jazeera and Associated
Press. Maybe also try The Economist.

I don't know if any/all offer free subscriptions to general readers but I
suspect the web TV will be free to all.
