I finally saw the doctor who specialises in skin issues today. She is
pretty sure it is eczema and it MAY have been triggered by my foray into a
gorse bush to rescue the mutt.

She has arranged blood tests, warned me to take a wheelbarrow to the
pharmacy tomorrow and will see me again in 2 weeks.

How on earth did you manage to actually go and see your doctor then?

By exercising what a doctor needs - patience my son, patience :-)

I managed to get a 'phone appointment on 26 Jan when Doctor A said "I need
to see you to deal with this", she made a face to face appointment for 28
Jan. When I saw her she was extremely sympathetic (I didn't have much skin
left on my chest by then), prescribed loads of stuff and said you need to
see Doctor B who is a specialist in skin issues.

On the way out I tried to make an appointment with Doctor B who was fully
booked up for a week and then going on holiday for 2 weeks so I should try
in about 10 days when further appointments would be released.

I tried and tried but nothing became available and this thing was
spreading so I called 111. The person I spoke to was working from script
but a sensible one and said she would send a message to the surgery that I
must speak to a clinician within 24 hours and I should call them in the
morning.

I did and got a call back from Doctor C in the afternoon. I said that I
needed to see Doctor B and she took offence and asked if I felt Doctor B
would prescribe better medicine, I think she was also cheesed off that I
had contacted 111. Anyway she prescribed a different lot of medicines.

I kept plugging away at the online appointment system (on the 'phone I was
always number 9 in the queue) and just after midnight one day a 'phone
appointment appeared for Doctor B which I grabbed. I then had to go to the
pharmacy (located in the surgery) for a repeat of my Edoxaban and asked
reception if an earlier appointment was available. It wasn't but she did
switch the appointment from 'phone to face to face.

And that's how I ended up with a doctor's appointment :-)

You could or should write a book about that Jeff. ;)
