Hmmm. I had my first Superduke on an IoM plate. Someone had a little business involving IoM licences and plates. But IIRC DVA and the island started sharing information and there was ratification of offences/bans that made it pointless, after some threats were made re the financial services industry..

This now reminds me of the last time I was stopped by plod, in Kz.
And the video they showed me had an indicated 160+ KM/h, of a bike that
was most obviously not me.[1]

Heck, if the Peg had been doing that fully laden my weave would have
taken in both carriage ways.

Mine was from the Police too, and said something like "if it had been
a policeman then a prosecution would have been likely", etc.

yes, that's the type that got me - fits on a bogey and taken about the
place - I found the spot on google maps where it was secreted as they had
caught it in situ. Straight road, no danger, just a cash cow after lowering
the NSL to 80kph, a few km into Spain after dropping down from a Pyrenean
pass. No doubt a very good earner from tourists.

TBF, they're still nearly always placed closely following a Radar
Warning sign, so as a rule of thumb you should slow down and be doubly
vigilant for a km or two after passing any such sign.
