Is there a way of finding the original version of a webpage that has

I seem to recall something called the wayback machine or similar. A google
search will probably find it.

Yes, it's the Internet Archive, and it includes what's called the
Wayback Machine.

Here are its archives for the Poppy Records website:
https://web.archive.org/web/*/poppyrecords.co.uk.

There are various snapshots, this is what the website looked like in
October 2003:
https://web.archive.org/web/20030101000000*/poppyrecords.co.uk.

If you have the date and the website address, you can plug them both
into the URL to get a quick result, for example:
https://web.archive.org/web/1998/www.apple.com/

It's not the fastest thing, but it is very valuable.

+1 for the Wayback Machine. It’ll depend on when/if the site was crawled
and a snapshot taken. Unfortunately ‘recently’ may reduce your chances.
