Gentles,

Can you tell me where the BT YouView boxes get their program guide
from. Is it off-air or internet? If I take one to Spain and stick it on
a VPN what features will I get.

Dave

Do these boxes use off air and internet, or can they use just the internet.
Of course it also depends how much geoblocking is going on.

Not sure about vpns being good enough to foil that.

The VPN is between Spain and the UK and joins two IPV4 private networks
- (192.168.1.x & 192.168.0.X). The traffic from Spain emerges via my
PlusNet connection...

If you look at one of te subscription channels, like the BT Sports one
then you will see the schedule displayed so that must have been updated
online.

Not sure about the Freeview channels, you could find out by moving to
the last day with any schedule shown on Freeview channels - about seven
days time I think. Make a note of the last programme shown on one of
the Freeview channels.

Then unplug the antenna overnight and have a look the next day, put the
antenna back in and see if more programmes are then displayed on that
channel.

You will probably see the Guide updating.
