I don't know if it has been mentioned before but this is on BBC Scotland
channel and will be available on iPlayer.

DOCUMENTARY: Inside Central Station
On: BBC Scotland HD
Date: Tuesday 6th September 2022 (Already shown)
Time: 22:00 to 23:00 (1 hour long)

The Network Rail helicopter takes to the skies to survey the lines
around Central for faults and Drew calls in the emergency services to
help with a pigeon trapped in the station. The Central team adapt as the
station's low level closes for eight weeks as part of a huge engineering
project, while a Scotland game at Hampden Park sees the concourse
flooded by football fans - but there's not enough trains.
(High Definition, Subtitles, Repeat, Widescreen, Audio Described, Series

Thanks, it was an informative, interesting programme which I'd have missed
without your alert.

But perhaps it needed subtitles for an English audience?

Seems to be the fourth series so there might be other episodes on iPlayer.

I’ve just booked myself on their station tour, as I’m up there at the end
of the month. The station area before the start of the platforms is much
smaller in reality than it appears on TV.

It always seems quite a big area to me. Maybe that’s because I’m used to
the more cramped volumes of Waverley. Of course the concourse isn’t the
full width of the station because of the way the higher numbered platforms
are offset and under a separate roof because of the direction of Hope St
and the buildings on it, and the space given over to the shops.

I did the tour a few years ago. I'm sure you'll find it interesting.

I did it a couple of years back. What I found amazing wasn’t just the
history but how much infrastructure there is below platform level.

I think the 'Victorian platform' is a misnomer though. Was it not
closed in 1964 when the low level service was withdrawn?
