It took me 7 months to renew my driving licence, I had to do it by snail
mail as I don't have a passport.

By the time it came back I had moved and I am now attempting to update my
address online. The system says the 2 letter code after my driver number
and the licence number on the back don't tie up with their records so
rejects the application. I scanned the licence so I could magnify it and
they are definitely the numbers on the licence.

I tried to do a web chat but by the time I'd entered all the information
they want they'd gone home for the day :-(

They really don't like me.

We had a similar experience renewing my wifes licence online when we moved
house.
The online system didn't recognise her passport number.
In fact they said she didn't have a passport, despite it being used a number
of times for overseas trips.
We resorted to the good old Post Office system.

I resorted to snail mail for licence renewal, took 7 months.

My new log book arrived this morning following my address update on Friday
so they can do it if the system works.

working days for my new DL to arrive. I kept a scan of my old DL so
where can you track it please?

I find these stories amazing as I had a letter about licence renewal a
few days ago, applied on line, and received it in today's post.
This was for over 70 renewal, and I didn't ask for any changes, so maybe
that's why it was so quick.

I ordered mine a month or so ahead of renewal without a renewal letter,
the Post Office lady was all for me waiting and getting my money worth
out of the renew, until I explained I'd not get a full 10 years from the
renew as my over 70 renew is the next one also.

As has been said several times f you have valid passport renewal of
licence is a doddle, if not you have to go through the paper process which
took 7 months in my case last year, I have to get the address changed but
I'm loathe to send it off again (there is an online hitch in that the
system doesn't recognise the security code on my licence);
