I imagine there will be a lot of arms dealers looking up the specs of Ukraine's Neptune missile system just as they did for France's Exocet after Argentinians sank HMS Sheffield, the Ardent, Antelope, Coventry, Sir Galahad and Atlantic Conveyor.

And let's hope it was a Ukrainian missile and not something NATO or America had supplied. We are a hair's breadth away from allowing Putin to legitimately declare NATO and ourselves parties to the conflict with all that entails.

This is the existential dilemma; the greater Russia's losses the more likely Putin is to feel he has nothing to lose in ratcheting it up a notch, launching nukes, taking us down with him - Better for Russia die on her feet than live on her knees.

NATO is being rather blasé in ignoring the principles of Mutually Assured Destruction. They appear to have decided, if defeat of Russia means destroying the world, then that is absolutely fine.
