Hi,

Yanks call the Bell Iroquois chopper a "Huey" cos the US Army number was " HU-1"

Australia used to have a bunch of them - saw a few displaying at air shows around Sydney. Famous for it's role in Vietnam, it later became the Bell 204/205 civilian models.

This vid is of a privately owned Huey, seen from the inside during a short flight. The imaging and sound are both top notch. Turn up the volume.

Good stuff, just need to find someone who will let me have a go:-)
Biggest heli I've flown (with instructor who took off and landed) is an
R44, would love to have a go at something bigger with a turbine.

Very badly organised, no audio when flying, stupid not to get the pedals
right
before even starting the engine and stupid to have the dog wandering around.

I thought the same although she did explain it all in the comments.
Still it didn't appear to hamper her ability to fly the helicopter.
Don't know about the Huey but other helis I've been in don't have a lot
of adjustment in the controls so its not always possible to get
everything adjusted perfectly for people of different heights, for
example the couple of times I've flown a H300 my hand/arm on the cyclic
aches after a while because its too high for me, R22 & R44 are much more
comfortable because of the centre pivoting cyclic.

It would have been useful to be able to hear his comments as
he was letting the turbine cool down before shutting it down.
His initial comments before starting the turbine were interesting.

> Still it didn't appear to hamper her ability to fly the helicopter.

Dunno, she gave up coming back, maybe for that reason.
Understandable that she didn’t want to try landing it tho.

Sure but at most she might need was a cushion etc
so her feet reached the pedals. Those she doesn’t
appear to be a midget from the inset view of them
and the height of her head in the forward view.

Yeah, bit tricky to make them very adjustable.

We have a complete Huey in the museum. I believe that all it needs is
igniters to make it work although the management would never allow it.

If you want to know what it was like to learn to fly choppers in the
military, and the life of a chopper pilot in Vietnam, "Chickenhawk" by
Robert Mason is a good read.

I didn't watch it to the end so I missed the landing/shutdown.

Possibly she didn't want to attempt the landing due to lack of pedal
adjustment, landing/hover is when you need max control of the tail rotor.

Weight is the problem, easy enough to make the controls fully adjustable
but that would be at a weight penalty.
