A few months ago, they changed my BP med to Doxasozin two times 2mg.
That wasn't working adequatly so they revised and doubled it to two
times 2mg, twice per day.

Question is, why prescribe 2mg, when 4mg seem to be available? Isn't
one 4mg cheaper to prescribe than 2x 2mg? Any reason why twice per day,
wouldn't one 8mg do?

I imagine its due to the release duration.

If its only taken once a day it might get "cleaned out" by the system
and the effect will not not get properly spread out over the 24 hours.

Thats why when you are in pain, they tell you to take your painkillers
every 4 hours instead of chewing through a dozen of them with your
breakfast each day - which might also have some undesirable side effects.

Yes, I appreciate that, but why 2x 2mg at a time, rather than 1x 4mg?

dunno ... maybe theres a preference list or something from the pharmacy.

And if thats true, then when they want to prescribe 6 mg at a time they
are all set up ?
