<quotes>

The government will attempt to delay a decision over an investigation into whether Boris Johnson misled MPs about lockdown parties.

Ministers now say that vote should wait until probes by the Met Police and civil servant Sue Gray have finished.

It's just another attempt to kick the can down the road with the hope that it will save Johnson's skin.

It seems inevitable that corrupt tories will back doing that just as they dutifully protected Owen Paterson when asked to. They have no honour nor shame.

But they know they are defending the indefensible, protecting a lying serial liar, and the issue is damaging the party.

It could be the first real test of 'Johnson or the Party'.

Seems Downing Street got the message that it was an obvious move to try and save Johnson's skin, realised the public wouldn't like that one bit, that they'd savaged, and decided to pull their amendment even before the debate on referring the lying serial liar to the privileges committee.

At least it saved the tory scum who backed Owen Paterson when told to from being thrown under the bus again when that realisation belatedly dawns on them.

Most are probably fuming inside that Johnson did that, has proven himself a liability, that he dragged the party into this mess through his serial lying; lying there were no parties, lying that rules were followed when they weren't, lying that he was never at any when he was, before the big lie that he somehow didn't realise he was breaking his own rules, topped off with lying about having lied.

If he had just come clean, admitted the breaches, blamed them on being incorrectly advised on the scope of the rules, he could have got away with it.

But he wouldn't, couldn't. It's not in his nature. He tried to create a false narrative, sell us alternative facts and fake news. He decided to lie about it to hide the truth. And kept on lying to keep hiding the truth. It's what lying serial liars do.
