Best wishes to everybody.

Mornin' from another dry, scorching hot day here in South Yorkshire.
We've had BYT and wall to wall blue sky since sun-up at 04:50 today.
Temperature out there is 25.3C (77.5F) with barometric pressure
falling slowly at 1025.6 mB. RH is showing as 45%. Forecast is it to
remain dry, clear and hot throughout today with the temperature to peak
at 29C (84.2F) around mid-afternoon. Have a great day everyone.
Don't forget the "Factor 5000" and continuing to take care and staying
safe. And keep yourself well hydrated. I got a weeks supply of cider
in last night. :) Don't suppose that'll last long though. :(
All washing is out on the line to dry, but I reckon it all dried in
the few minutes it took to hang it out.

She hates the heat and has difficulty finding somewhere cool enough to
rest her weary head. Right now she's stretched out on the carpet, half
hidden by the dressing table in the bay of her bedroom. Yesterday was
the first day since her accident that she actually left the house by way
of the bathroom window, onto the kitchen extension roof etc. I don't
know if she's tried the reverse journey yet. However she has managed to
jump up onto the dining room window ledge to gain entry, several times.
Still baby steps but almost there I guess. Though she still has that
prominent limp.

I have now gone back over your GMTs since I stopped posting, only to
find you don't know what happened.

I was reminded of next door's black cat, who used to stay cool by going
under parked cars, as far away from the sun as possible, and ideally
where the breeze would blow under the car and lose some heat in the
shady area under the car before reaching the cat. When next door went
on holiday they would ask me to feed the cat while they were away, so I
was treated as part of the extended family and the cat would come up and
see what I was doing whenever I went into my garden.

I was due for another cat feeding spell when I was told that it would
include adding a crushed tablet to wet food for the first three days.
Apparently the cat had had a snooze under the window cleaner's van and
when the window cleaner drove off the cat didn't get out of the way
quick enough. The cat survived but had a broken jaw, teeth missing and a
patch of fur along one side pulled out. The window cleaner heard the
cat scream and stopped and watched where the cat went, then rang the
bell next door, apologised for running over the cat and said where the
cat was hiding. Next door took it to the vet who sorted out what could
be sorted and prescribed tablets to be taken for a fortnight, and I was
left to look after a recovering cat with a few days left of tablets, and
instructions that instead of the normal dry food I had previously put
down, there was pouches of food in gravy which the injured jaw was
managing to eat.

The cat did recover. It eventually died of old age about 6 years later.
But it did stop sleeping under cars. Instead it would sleep beneath a
bush in my garden which grew close to the ground so had an area beneath
in permanent shade and it stayed cool.

Have you tried filling a hot water bottle with a cold water/ice mixture
and covered by a towel to keep her away from the direct chill but giving
her a cool area?

She sounds as if she is improving little by little but may now have a
permanent limp. Fingers crossed for both of you.

The limp seemed to be almost invisible this morning so fingers-crossed
she'll be getting her full mobility back. It' noticeable to see that
her self confidence has come back, and that spark, glint in her eyes
has returned, together with her stroppy personality.

Great news FN ! On *cutting* this post to reply , my mind wanders back to
the old timers of this group , specifically Mike Clayton & his posts about
cutting replies .. Good old days :-)

I recall many posts from Mike MCC reminding us to snip.
We enjoyed a coffee with Mike and his wife June, in Falmouth some
years ago.

It was an enjoyable meet up, Smokey, you maybe interested in a photo
from the coffee shop taken on Marg's birthday 22/09/2009.
http://brimarg.co.uk/valley/MCC.jpg

Mike MCC is on the right and his wife June on the left, with Marg and
myself in the middle.

Since then I have had the pleasure of meeting Froggie in Scarborough
on a couple of occasions.
