Migraleve always worked for me but having nasal polyps removed provided a
pretty well permanent cure.

That is just the short circuit between the ears.

Those lead filled metal pills that come out the barrel
of a glock fixes the migraine with aura instantly

Ask your doc. The interesting things are prescription only.

I'm on Pizotifen. I don't think it stops them, but the after effects are
a mild headache instead of having to go to bed for the rest of the day.

You have a new underlying condition, which is aggravating the migraine.

You complained in a recent thread about "dehydration".
But you did not mention whether you had "increased thirst".

I'd want to see a doctor, and have a blood test, and see
what had popped out-of-band.

This isn't the migraine doing this all by itself. The
migraine is a "hint" you need to check the basics.

******

I had two conditions at one time. I had acephalgic aura.
And some number of days after that, I absentmindedly
used my blood pressure meter (hadn't used it for months)
and my BP was 200/100. Well, after I started getting
meds for the BP, I no longer had acephalgic aura.
Cured, just like that, by treating the underlying
condition, which was my BP.

I used to suffer dreadful regular migraines - they started when I was 11 or
so.

I saw a specialist in London in my 20s, tried various pills and potions
from the medics.

I found paracetamol and codeine, and a hot water bottle in a towel to my
head while laying down was the most effective way to get rid of one.

They pretty well stopped after my stroke. I never had high BP - other than
around the time of my stroke. Quite the converse, whenever it was measured
the nurse etc would comment how low it was.

I had an undiagnosed aneurysm which burst. It had sat there being a pain
for nearly 40 years. I was one of the lucky ones who survived.

I mentioned it as a hint Jim. A close relative had two. He was also lucky -
one burst but being aware of my experience realised the problem and went to
hospital. They popped a stent in one and opened his skull and clipped the
other one. He went back to fighting fires / driving fire engines. Before
and after he could carry you or me up a ladder.

Get yourself checked, aneurysms are remarkably common. One of my pupils
(12) had one.

If you're paying for Migraleve i'm pretty sure they are the same as the
own brand Paracetamol/Codeine that you can get for less money.

It seems that there are three variants (one of which is
paracetamol/codeine).

A quick Google confirms ordinary Migraleve has the same active ingredients
as paracetamol and codeine, a bit more of the former 520 mg vs 500mg.

There is an Ultra version which has sumatriptan (50mg) which is similar to
another migraine drug imigran. I think than is one I tried many years ago.
It certainly sounds familiar.

As I posted earlier, I found paracetamol and codeine the best, especially
the soluble type. A hot water bottle (in a towel or cover) on my neck or
forehead helped. My stroke pretty well cured mine but that is a drastic
solution.

A study found magnesium cleared 100% of migraines. A quick search isn't finding it, but it's a pretty clear pointer to what's going on.

Bullshit. If it did, everyone who gets migraines would be taking it.

Because it is completey bogus.

Bullshit.

My wife was talking to me about supplements at lunchtime...

https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/magnesium-deficiency

links it to migraine, as do
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5786912/
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22426836/

but

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22426837/
says "Should magnesium be given to every migraineur? No"

I might give it a go though!

Andy
