I have an old cell phone - not smart - haven't used it in 5 years - sits
on the charger.

A few days ago I got two emails sending me copies of recorded messages,
allegedly from Google sending me a verification code on it.

It is not linked to my google account.

If I have another account that is defunct but still linked to it, how do
I remove that account?

I honestly cannot remember if there is: google likes to create accounts
for you at the drop of a hat.

That is just a very common scam.

They send that to random phone numbers.
