Got an ageing MBA here that has 'crackly' bluetooth. I've also got a
D-Link BT dongle, so... can I 'turn off' the internal BT?

system preferences, bluetooth, but that's almost certainly not the
problem.

Oh - as simple as that? How to know if the dongle is connected (working)?

Thanks for the link. The ‘Switch Bluetooth off, wait 3 seconds, insert usb
dongle, wait three seconds, turn Bluetooth on’ thing works.
