I was looking around at current keyboards with numberpads, when it occurred to
me that I have a perfectly good Extended Keyboard II sitting in a drawer
somewhere.

But ADB - USB adapters don't seem to be as easy to find as I'd thought. There
are these two:

https://www.bigmessowires.com/usb-wombat/
https://www.tinkerboy.xyz/product/tinkerboy-adb-to-usb-keyboard-mouse-converter/

but both are US-based and not that cheap (maybe my expectations are wrong,
mind you).

Anyone know of alternative solutions?

There are some Arduino and similar converters, eg:
https://github.com/MCJack123/ArduinoADB
https://chester.me/archives/2016/12/connecting-a-classic-adb-apple-keyboard-to-a-modern-usb-pc-using-a-regular-arduino/
http://blog.jomon-lab.com/arduino-projects/adb-to-usb-adapter-using-arduino-keyboard-function/wire-connection

Basically a USB-native Arduino (Atmega16u2 or 32u2, eg the Arduino Micro)
has everything needed, and there is standard software to make it look like a
USB keyboard, which some people have grafted an ADB interface onto You need
to wire up the ADB socket yourself and then flash the software using the
Arduino tools. Clone Arduino Micros start at about $10, the genuine ones
are about $20/£20/etc.

Interesting... I have an Arduino lying around which I think is recent enough.
Will investigate - thanks.
